Director Pa. Ranjith has put the rumour mill to rest
that actress Deepika Padukone has bagged the role of the lead actress
in his next yet-untitled Tamil project with superstar Rajinikanth.
This
can come as a bad news for Deepika Padukone fans who were willing to
see the actress share the screen with superstar Rajinikanth. Rumours
were rife that the pretty actress is going to act alongside Rajinikanth
for the second time after Kochadaiiyaan
A €‹Previously, Deepika
Padukone was signed to act with the superstar Rajinikanth in KS
Ravikumar’s Rana. But the movie had shelved due to the health issues of
the actor.
As a reply to a Twitter user on Friday evening,
Ranjith said that the news about Deepika being cast in his next project
is untrue.
Earlier, it was rumoured that Radhika Apte was being
considered for the same role. Vidya Balan was also speculated to be
finalised as the lead actress in Rajinikanth’s next.
Ranjith and Rajinikanth reunite after last year's Tamil blockbuster "Kabali".
While the genre of the film remains a mystery, what is known is that Dhanush will be bankrolling the project. It is believed that the film will go on the floors from later this year.
